1. Introduction

Arabic Language, Islamic Studies, and UAE Social Studies are foundational subjects that support students’ linguistic development, Islamic identity, and understanding of the culture and values of the United Arab Emirates.
In line with the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) requirements, this policy defines the implementation of MoE subjects within the Kindergarten (KG) cycle (KG1 to KG2) at the Pakistani Islamic Private School Al Ain.
The policy ensures early exposure to Arabic language and Islamic education while preparing students for the formal MoE curriculum in Cycle 1.

2. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to:
 Mandate the delivery of MoE subjects in the KG cycle.
 Define minimum instructional time, learning outcomes, and teaching standards.
 Support a play-based, inquiry-led, and Islamic learning environment.
 Encourage parental engagement in Arabic and Islamic learning.
 Ensure compliance with MoE and ADEK regulations.

3. Scope

This policy applies to:
 All Kindergarten levels: KG1/FS2, KG2/Year 1
 All enrolled students
 All staff involved in teaching MoE subjects

4. Mandatory MoE Subjects in KG

The school implements the following MoE subjects:
 Arabic Language
 Islamic Studies
 UAE Social Studies

5. Curriculum & Learning Outcomes

5.1 The school implements MoE subjects in alignment with official MoE learning frameworks and ADEK policies.
5.2 Curriculum planning includes:
           Annual curriculum maps
           Unit and lesson plans
           Weekly schedules reflecting MoE learning outcomes
5.3 MoE subjects are fully integrated within the school’s curriculum and delivered through interdisciplinary and thematic learning approaches aligned with Islamic values.

6. Arabic Language Streams

6.1 Stream Allocation

KG1 / FS2 – KG2 / Year 1                         Arabic B (Non-Arab Nationals)

 Arabic B is for non-native Arabic speakers.

6.2 Stream Switching

 Non-Arab students may switch streams based on parental request and school assessment.

6.3 Arabic Language Support

Additional Arabic intervention and language support are provided to students who require it.

7. Instructional Time Allocation

 Islamic Studies is mandatory from KG1.
 Islamic Studies is delivered:
                        o In Arabic for Arab Muslim students
                        o In the school’s approved language of instruction for non-Arab Muslim students

8. Teaching & Learning Approach

 Play-based, inquiry-driven, and child-centered learning
 Use of age-appropriate, Islamic, and culturally respectful resources
 Exclusive use of Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha) in Arabic lessons
 Integration of UAE Social Studies across subjects, routines, and school activities

9. Assessment

 Assessments are formative, observational, and developmentally appropriate.
 Assessment practices align with ADEK School Assessment Policy.
 Placement assessments are used for Arabic stream allocation.
 No formal examinations are conducted in KG.

10. Teacher Qualifications

 Arabic A teachers must be native Arabic speakers.
 Arabic B teachers must demonstrate native-level Arabic proficiency.
 Islamic Studies teachers must:
                   o Be Muslim
                   o Demonstrate strong Quran recitation skills
                   o Meet MoE qualification requirements

11. Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

 All teaching staff complete a minimum of 75 CPD hours annually.
 CPD focuses on:
                o MoE curriculum frameworks
                o Arabic language pedagogy
                o Islamic education
                o Inclusive and multilingual teaching strategies

12. Parent Engagement

The school promotes parental involvement by:
 Regular communication of learning outcomes
 Providing Arabic learning materials for home use
 Organizing Islamic and cultural events
 Offering workshops and school-community activities related to MoE subjects
